Oliveira & Jacobovitz Advogados · Recife
The firm

There are many ways to practice law. Ours combines technique and strategy.

Oliveira & Jacobovitz Advogados is a multidisciplinary law firm based in Recife, Brazil, acting throughout the country. We advise companies and individuals on both advisory and litigation matters, from drafting a contract to arguing a case in court.

Our practice is concentrated where the rules change fast and mistakes are expensive: regulated sectors, government contracts, healthcare, real estate, employment and the sports betting market, whose Brazilian regulation we have followed since it was first drafted.

We deliberately keep a small number of clients per lawyer. That way each case is handled by someone who genuinely knows it, with answers within the agreed time and no intermediaries between you and the person who sets the strategy.

Our story

ITechniqueArguments built on research, current case law and a close reading of the rule. No boilerplate: every document is written for your case and for the person who will decide it.
IIStrategyBefore acting, we agree with you on the real objective: a settlement, a deadline, protecting a reputation or winning in court. The legal route follows from that objective, not from habit.
IIIProximityYou speak with the lawyer who runs your case. Answers within the agreed time, plain language instead of legalese, and the information you need in order to decide with confidence.

Testimonials

What clients say about working with us

We had a development stalled by an urban planning requirement that nobody could clear. The firm mapped out the administrative route, drafted the petition and kept us informed week by week. We went from uncertainty to an action plan with dates on it.
Ricardo Menezes Albuquerque
Ricardo Menezes AlbuquerqueGeneral Counsel · Nordeste Incorporações
We needed to bring the operation and the advertising into line before an audit round. We received a written opinion that told us what to change, in what order and what risk came with each choice. It was the first time the board understood the subject without needing a translation.
Larissa Coutinho Vasconcelos
Larissa Coutinho VasconcelosHead of Compliance · Atlante Gaming Brasil
We were caught off guard by a collective labor claim that could have shut the plant down. The firm's team reorganized the defense, revised the contracts that were creating the problem at the source and trained our managers. The company makes fewer mistakes now and sleeps better.
Paulo Sérgio Tavares

We had conflicting court decisions on coverage and each one called for a different response. The firm built a single line of argument, aligned it with our medical team and we started replying on the same day. The operation stopped improvising.
Marina Beltrão Guimarães

We were bidding for a public contract and our proposal was disqualified over a formality. The challenge was drafted quickly, on clear grounds, and we were back in the process. What struck me most was having someone explain every move in plain language.

My father's estate involved properties, a family business and siblings who were no longer on speaking terms. I was treated with patience from beginning to end and I understood every document I signed. The settlement was reached without breaking the family apart.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose a lawyer in Recife, Brazil, for my case?

Start by checking that the lawyer is registered with the OAB, Brazil's bar association, and that the firm has specific experience in the matter you need, not simply years in practice. Ask them to explain the scenario, the alternatives and the risks of each route in plain language. A good sign is a lawyer who also tells you what cannot be done. Be wary of anyone promising a result: Brazilian professional ethics rules prohibit that kind of guarantee.

What happens in the first conversation with the firm?

The first conversation is about understanding your situation, the documents you already have and any deadlines running. It can take place at our office in Pina, Recife, or by video call. At the end you receive a preliminary reading of the case and a proposal setting out scope, working format and fees, before you engage us.

Does the firm work with clients outside Pernambuco or outside Brazil?

Yes. The firm is based in Recife and acts throughout Brazil, both on advisory matters, which do not depend on location, and on court cases in other states, with local counsel when an act requires physical presence. We also advise foreign companies and investors doing business in Brazil. Meetings can be held by video call and cases are followed remotely.

Which languages does the firm work in?

We work in English, Portuguese and Spanish. That matters in particular for foreign operators and investors in the Brazilian sports betting market and in other regulated sectors, who often need documents and legal opinions in more than one language.

How do I book a consultation?

You can write through the form on this site, send a message to WhatsApp (81) 99187-3722 or email contato@oj.adv.br. If a deadline is already running, say so in your first message: matters with deadlines are triaged first. The firm is open Monday to Friday, 9 am to 6 pm (Brasília time).
