Legal opinions: the documented decision
When the choice matters, the analysis has to be written, reasoned and signed by someone who stands behind it.
Some decisions cannot rest on a conversation. Entering a new market, accepting a corporate structure, launching a product in a regulated sector, answering a supervisory body or justifying a choice to the board: in those moments, the legal opinion is the document that gives comfort to whoever decides.
Our opinions answer the question that was asked, grounded in statute, regulation and current case law, and they end with an objective conclusion. Where there is genuine divergence or uncertainty, we say so plainly instead of burying the doubt in long text.
When this service is the answer
A high impact decision with nothing in writing
Management has to decide and there is no document to support the choice before shareholders, the board, auditors or, later, an inspection.
Conflicting readings of the same rule
Consultants, accountants and the internal team say different things about what the rule requires. Without a reasoned analysis, the company stalls.
A third party requiring a legal opinion
An investor, a bank, an international partner or a public body asks for a legal opinion on the regularity of the operation or on a specific point.
What you receive
Framing the question
Before writing, we agree with you exactly what has to be answered and who the document is for. An opinion without a clear question is of no use for deciding.
Research into statute, regulation and case law
A survey of the applicable law, the regulator's acts and the current position of the courts, citing source and date for every relevant statement.
A written opinion with an objective conclusion
A structured document with an executive summary up front, the reasoned analysis and the conclusion. Anyone in a hurry reads the first page and has the essentials.
Scenarios and recommendation
Where more than one route is available, we set out the scenarios with the risk attached to each and indicate the recommended path, together with what the company should document.
Presentation meeting
A session with management or the board to explain the conclusions, answer questions and align the next steps.
Delivery in another language
Where the recipient is based abroad, we deliver the opinion in English or Spanish, with the reasoning still grounded in the applicable Brazilian law.
Why work with us
A conclusion you can act on
Our opinions end with a clear recommendation. Analysis that does not conclude simply hands the problem back to whoever had to decide.
Sources cited, nothing invented
Every relevant statement comes with the rule or ruling that supports it, identified by number and date, so any reader can check it.
Scope and timing agreed up front
You know in advance what the opinion will cover, when it will be delivered and what it will cost, before the work begins.
Frequently asked questions
What is a legal opinion and what is it for?
It is a technical document in which a lawyer analyses a specific question under the applicable legislation, regulation and case law and reaches a reasoned conclusion. It is used to support corporate decisions, respond to audits and supervisory bodies, instruct internal processes and show that the choice was made with due diligence.
How long does a legal opinion take?
The timeline depends on the complexity and on the research required, and it is agreed before work starts. More focused questions are usually delivered within a few business days, while analyses involving several rules, long contracts or divergent case law need more time. Where there is urgency, we can deliver a preliminary version with the main conclusions.
Does an opinion guarantee the company will not be challenged?
No, and no lawyer can promise that. An opinion reduces risk by identifying the most defensible reading and by documenting that the decision was taken on technical grounds, which tends to matter in administrative and court disputes. Where genuine controversy exists, we state the degree of uncertainty expressly.
Can the opinion be presented to investors or banks?
Yes. We regularly issue opinions addressed to investors, financial institutions and commercial partners, including in English. In those cases the scope and the addressees are defined in the document itself, because the opinion is given in light of the information provided and the context stated.
Do you issue opinions on the Brazilian betting sector?
Yes. We issue opinions on licensing, advertising, contracts, corporate structure and regulatory obligations in the Brazilian fixed-odds betting market, a field the firm has followed since its own formation. The conclusions reflect the rules in force on the date of issue, which in this sector continue to evolve.
